Happy friday everyone. Go to the beach! Just shot the hot coats on the mini jump shovel fish. I am beginning to think that I may have to keep this one. I just love it, so much foam, yet still so mini! With the removable quad set up I think I am going to try a few different fin set ups. I am thinking of putting just a keel fin on one side and then quad on the other side. Also thinking about trying that except using a thruster side fin and the thruster center fin for a rear. I want to get this baby flying down the line.

5’2″ Mini Shovel Fish

Here is the mini shovel fish. If you were to continue from the point of the shovel, the imaginary nose would make the board a 5’6″. So the volume distribution is nearly the same as my good old 5’6″, a board that I could paddle into waves at the same point as longboarders. The max thickness is 2.5″ but stay 2.5 almost to the rails. The bottom is a slight hull into a single then double concave. Quad fins are set way back, I did this for a few reasons. First off, when set up as a quad, it will just fly down the line. Second, I can also pop in some keel fins and still have drive, but it will be a little loser then the quad. Also these simmons styled boards love fins wayyy back.

Tim picked up the 5’7″ orange fish. Stepping down from a larger board, the higher volume and width will be good for paddling, but the shorter length is going to fly! Keep an eye out for Tim and his fish in the line up.

Hung out at the Main Beach Surf and Sport Pre summer swap with a quiver of boards. Met some great people and caught some fun little waves before and after the swap. Back out again in a few weeks!
